Hello Nan,

I may not know all the details about you and your friend so I will just voice my opinion regarding this matter. It may be one of these two things.

1. Your friend is really worried about you so she is "bugging" you about what actions you should take. Usually, if a person cares about his/her friend so much, that friend will try to keep you away from trouble and suggest some things which he/she seems right. Ask yourself if maybe there are things in your life that you really need to change for the betterment of your life and the lives of your children. If you think that you are not doing anything bad, then

2. She may be trying to use you. I do not want to assume things here, but if this is the case, then maybe you should stop communicating with her for some time. You said that she did not pay back her debt, and it may be a good thing to just forget about the debt if it means that you will not have any contact with her for a while. Tell her to respect the way that you run your life, and say to her (calmly) that there are things in life which can only be solved by our own selves, that she is not helping at all by "pointing out" the direction you should take.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you will be in good terms with your friend again.

Thanks so much for this article. I have a friend who is trying to control my life. I will be 40 this year and I am the mother of 4 children. Despite, this my 46 year old single, never married, still living with her mother friend constantly trys to tell me how to raise my kids, run my marriage, have a relationship with God. Everything. I don't want to hurt her by ending the friendship but it really makes me angry. She was even at one point encouraging me to leave my husband. When I went to the altar for repentance at church last night, she calls the next day demanding to know what I had done wrong. I said that was between me and God. I am tired of it. Don't know what to do. I have even loaned her money that she never paid back $300. I forgave the debt. Help.
